I spend much time seeking ways to serve God because I enjoy it, beyond writing. I serve in the capacity of being a youth leader at my church, founder of Healing of a Broken Heart Ministry, and our outreach is towards homeless families throughout metro Atlanta. Often times my daughter will opt to schedule herself to be a part of the itinerary in some type of capacity.
Recently, she was told she was not going to sing a song for our upcoming kick off for the “Women of Excellence Conference” and she looked like she just lost her best friend. I melted because I knew that moment that my 9 year old daughter made a decision to complete a mission for the Lord.
My mind was captured by the scripture "Didn't you know I had to be in my Father's house?” Luke 2:49?
Jesus was 12 years old and his parents were looking from him. He was found in the temple, actively engaged with tending to the concerns and affairs of the Father. He was a child of enthusiasm to promote the Lord.
As I thought of my daughter, I realized she has certainly been observant. As her mother I have the privilege to model helping other people, being kind hearted and serving God.
My daughter made a decision to help the homeless and she looks forward to helping. I admire her for such act. Today many adults get side-tracked with life and get distracted from giving ourself to God. We get scared of the thought of marketing or promoting and it hinders us from being the living walking marketing tool for the Lord.
Maybe you have had setbacks in your life. Perhaps you have been taunted by the thought of scheming sales people so you relate marketing to negative instead of glorifying the Lord. Consider seeking ways to market for God, to join an organization that makes special efforts for the less fortunate.
Healing of a Broken Heart Ministry strives to compassionately restore the broken hearted. We are hosting a Like Mother, Like Daughter Tea Party fundraiser at Grace Baptist Church in Porterdale on May 29, 2010 in effort towards the endeavors for the homeless.
We welcome your prayers, attendance and financial donations towards this mission to help the homeless. I pray you will search your heart to support us as we move forward to help another mother during hardship. I ask that you ask God to forgive you from being distracted and help you stay focused as He opens the door for your gift as He makes room for you. Pray that God will fill you with enthusiasm to do the business of the Father. Ask God to help you become in touch with your gift, so you may serve Him with great cheer. Call upon the Lord to guide you to be the role model for your child or another child and reflect the Lord, for we were created in His image. For more information call (678) 571-9335 or email me at
