Last night 9 Stone Mountain Baptist Church Choirs came together at the First Baptist Conyers Church Campus. The theme of the Concert was, "East to West", "from one scarred hand to the other". FBC Conyers regularly the host of large venue indoor events in Rockdale County has hosted very succesful community events such as "Sons of Jubal", "Living Christmas Tree", Local Baccalaureats and Graduation Ceremeonies, and once again last night provided the venue where a standing room only crowd of 1608 people participated in one of the greatest joint musical events of the decade in the East Metro Area. With every seat in the sanctuary taken and a standing room only crowd Past Jeff Meyers said, we now know how many people our building can really hold without being uncomfortable for the audience. With over 1400 people attending a Sheriff Deputy's Funeral earlier in the year, the facilities staff did a great job at adding the necessary seating to accomodate the expected crowd. Building Facilities Director Steve Wells, did a great job preparing for this event. The building is always clean and fresh, and although coming up its tenth anniversay, it still looks like brand new.

The Concert which was months in the planning and included rehearsals that took place at other member curches such as Snellville 1st Baptist and brought together some of the areas best Choirs. Over 350 musicians and singers made up the choir. The churches that participated besides the host choir led by Doctor John Link, where Snellville First Baptist, led by Wayne Grothman, Rockdale Baptist Church, led by Roin Gardner, heritage Hills Baptist, led by Scott Fraser, Millstead Baptist Church,(celebrating their 120th anniversary), led by Gerri Saxon, Zion Baptist Church, led by Wayne Rickard, Oxford Baptist Church, led by Steve Traylor, Mansfield Baptist, led by Thom Barker, and First Baptist of Jackson, led by Rick Jenovese. Also Jon Duncan from the Georgia Baptist Convention was the host conductor, and Scott Stanton the Orchestra Director of FBC and Maestro of the Rockdale County High School Marching Band, brought his Drum Line Team from the Bulldogs Marching Band.

A special stage was built in order to hold the 9 choirs. Teh leadership of First Baptist Church is committed to being a great community partner where the message of the Gospel is presented in many different ways in order to reach people in the East Metro Area of Atlanta. The goal is always to present a great pro family, and pro Christian message of Hope. Wether it is through the Music Department, hsoting metro area womans Bible Study every Wednesday morning, or Christian Athletic Leagues, FBC Conyers and the Stone Mountain Baptist Churches work in unity to reach the millions of people in the Stone Mountain, Metro Atlanta Region.

The one and one half hour performance energized the crowd to several standing ovations with hands lifted up in adoration of our Lord Jesus Christ.

At the end a special collection was taken towards the Stone Mountain Disaster Relief Fund. The stone Mountain Baptist Association leader Larry Cheek gave a special presentation about the cause that brings help to many people in their time of need during disasters. The church is always committed to being on the front lines when disaster hits bringing relief to victims with both physical and spiritaul healing.

John Link the Choir Director at First Baptist has done a great job at serving the members and the entire community of First Baptist Church of Conyers for so many years. His cmmitment to making First Baptist a place of Worship and Blessing to the comminity

This writer is grateful for the committment that John Link and First Baptist Conyers has towards presenting the Gospel using first rate musicals that are worshipful and entertaining, and true to the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
