Description: DILLARD ENDORSED BY CAYCIE DIX By Maynard Eaton (Conyers) August 27, 2010 Two of Rockdale County’s rising political stars have now become teammates. Courtney Dillard, the dynamic 47-year-old developer, minister and father of five, today announced that his former opponent Caycie Dix, a 30-year-old attorney and businesswoman, has endorsed Dillard’s candidacy to unseat Post 2 Rockdale Commissioner JaNice Van Ness in the November 2nd General Election. “We need people with new and innovative ideas to overcome the County’s challenges,” says Dix. “I’m excited about what Mr. Dillard will bring to the table.” Dillard says Dix is a quintessential addition to his campaign team. “She wants to understand, she wants to get involved with the business community countywide,” he says. “We’ve got a lot of homework to do together. We’ll be able to pinpoint our neighborhood outreach activities with greater precision; we’ll be able to discover things about the community that could be valuable as we go forward. I’m going to have a fond experience working with her because of her background in business and law as a function to small female business owners, and to assist us with women's forums. What the County needs more than anything are people that can actually do the neighborhood outreach so that we can make the absolute best decisions for ‘Rockdale Going Forward’.” Dix, who garnered 37.6% of the vote in the July 20th Democratic Primary, believes she can play a key role in the “pivotal” November election. “Courtney and I both have the interest of Rockdale County at heart,” she says. “There are some things with his real estate background that he might be able to bring to the County. That would be an asset to help us move forward in the County.” Dillard, whose robust campaign has created a buzz within Rockdale’s political circles, says he has “always respected Caycie Dix because she had the courage to run” for office. “She’s an up and coming businesswoman in our community,” says the charismatic husband of Rockdale’s top surgeon Dr. Gayla Dillard. “As a leader in the Rockdale Democratic Party we have to embrace her and make sure that she has the greatest opportunity to learn from all the talented Democrats in our region. The beautiful thing about Caycie Dix is that she has a desire and willingness to learn.”
